"Grandpa, you're not allowed to go over 280 mph any longer! " www.fox17online.com/fox-17-unfiltered/did-ya-know/need-for-speed-86-year-old-allegan-man-building-400-mph-vehicleWhen it's complete, Byerly will take his Streamliner out to the Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah to attempt a land speed record for that kind of vehicle. The current number to beat is 348 mph set in 2010. Byerly hopes his Streamliner will top out above 400 mph. This need for speed has driven him for decades. Byerly was first consumed by the concept of racing when he was a teenager. "It actually started clear back when I graduated from high school because I walked over to the drugstore," Byerly said. "That's when the Hot Rod magazines were small. I thought, 'Boy, that's pretty interesting.' It just gradually crept up from there.”

That's a part of racing when you run on the edge.. A 4.xxx second 1/4 mile that he won. He was going 302 mph at the traps.. In that fireball he tried to keep straight as long as he could started to drift left so he went right, once it nearly hit the wall not much else to do but go along for the ride. Now a 75 yr old dude who knows there is a racer in the other lane, and did that, I think it's OK for grandpa to have the keys.. He already said that Austin is the next heir.. Brittany said he would be alright.. Hope he recovers and enjoys the family..
Tony, have you ever seen interviews of John force through the years of his racing?
He is like the Chuck Norris of nhra..
Oh ya, I’m not a big NHRA guy but I know he’s still with it. Have seen his girls race as well. My comment was tongue in cheek. If there were to be an issue I’m sure his competitors would politely voice their concerns behind closed doors.

Any issues would be self limiting.. reaction times suffer and become very evident in drag racing.
I've seen half his girls race, namely Courtney and Brittany. Fiercely competitive..

What difference does age play in that wreck? Would not have mattered if he was 36 instead of 76. The engine blew apart and locked down the transmission throwing the car out of control at 300 plus miles per hour. Good thing the other car had backed out of it.

He does and they are successful in their own right. The whole family is nuts. Force does make me feel better about wanting to still cut circles at 75. Yeah, I still want to cut some donuts ... but $400.00 tires (each) curtail my desire Get you a couple of recaps on 8" steel rims just for drive-in burnouts.

"Four days after his crash at more than 300 miles per hour, drag racing champion John Force has moved from the trauma intensive care unit to the neuro intensive care unit, where the medical team can focus on his head injury which is their primary concern." "The specifics of Force's condition were not detailed in the statement, but his placement in a neuro ICU is indicative of severe health issues." "The move was a welcome positive for his family members, who have maintained a daily presence at the hospital all week." "With the unanimous support of her family, team, and sponsors, Brittany Force is not planning to compete this week at the Summit Racing Equipment Nationals in Norwalk, Ohio, where she would have driven the Cornwell Tools Chevrolet Top Fuel dragster. Instead, she will remain at the hospital with her family in solidarity for her father." "Austin Prock will compete this weekend with the same courageous, fighting spirit that John has embodied and instilled in his teams over the years, and his AAA Chevrolet Camaro SS team will proudly carry the torch for the entire John Force Racing organization and sponsors this weekend." www.msn.com/en-us/health/other/john-force-moved-to-neuro-icu-nhra-release-emotional-statement/ar-BB1p7gh9?ocid=msedgdhp&pc=u531&cvid=78ea23ec3f9f430d88305d81b0eb7bbb&ei=10

"John Force Racing said Sunday that the 75-year-old Force initially couldn’t follow commands to open his eyes, squeeze the hands of care providers or move his extremities following the crash. After five days of heavy sedation, he began to gain momentum, including being able to respond to commands such as giving a thumbs-up and to recognize family members, calling them by name and saying “I love you.” "Force was transferred Wednesday from a trauma ICU to the neurological ICU, where he will remain for the immediate future and still faces “a long and difficult recovery ahead,” the team’s statement said." apnews.com/article/nhra-john-force-funny-car-virginia-crash-e7f380e6dc96a880880b0cc3bfa980ec

"Ashley Force Hood, daughter of John Force, recently took to her official X (formerly Twitter) account to update fans about her father's condition, describing him as a fighter. She shared that he was able to recognize 'Jacob & Noah' when he met them at the hospital- positive steps forward." "NHRA drag racing legend John Force is battling back from a traumatic brain injury sustained in a 300 mph crash at the Virginia Nationals last week. According to his team, he's making daily improvements while in a neurological intensive care unit." "After being moved from a trauma ICU to a neurological ICU this past Wednesday, Force faces a tough road to recovery. His team's statement emphasized that he would remain in intensive care for the foreseeable future and that the path ahead would be challenging." "Updating on the same John Force's daughter shared an emotional photo of him with his grandkids on X. She captioned the post:" "I'm so proud of my dad @johnforce_FC , he's such a fighter. He has a ways to go, but he's still his same old self at times. The sweetest thing was when he said "Jacob & Noah are my best friends". I was overcome with relief he would recognize them when he finally got to see them!🥰" www.msn.com/en-us/health/other/nhra-legend-john-force-s-daughter-delivers-a-positive-update-on-his-health-he-s-such-a-fighter/ar-BB1pEhRU?ocid=msedgdhp&pc=u531&cvid=d65fcb5fccee43359ba9aa9be0ac0c98&ei=38
