This will make the June 27th debate even more interesting. If it happens. Trump has been complaining ever since he agreed to it. Now that he's been convicted, there are more excuses to be made. We'll see. Personally, I'd like to see it happen.

Just for fun, check Google to see what civil rights Floridians lose when they are convicted of a felony. One of the restrictions is that they can no longer hold public office. Does that mean that citizen Trump can not hold any public office? Even if it's decided that the law only applies to Florida, doesn't that mean that citizen Trump cannot be on any ballot in the state of Florida?
Maybe Bullfrog can help clarify this question.

How nice! You know Hitler imprisoned his opposition. History never repeats itself right?? We're real close to socialism.. change my mind The United States has been a socialist country since the New Deal. Not a very efficient one, but one that's not going away, end of story. In no particular order: Federal Deposit Insurance, Social Security, Unemployment Insurance, Food Stamps, Hurricane, Earthquake, and Disaster Relief, Flood Insurance, Crop Insurance, etc. etc. The plutocrats who were howling at FDR have now packed their own Supreme Court. Say hello to polluted water, polluted air, and arbitration agreements in every contract. America is certainly paying for a "socialist utopia" ... we're just unable to enjoy it. To receive the bountiful benefits of socialism, you need to do two things: 1. Move to a foreign country. 2 Change your religion. You'll get free college, and free medical care from cradle to grave. Their motto has been drilled into your head, over and over: "We Stole It Fair and Square"

Well, there is a perception that political campaign interference by dems against the orange man was done covertly previously, now it is overt.
So if trump gets disqualified, which is the end result of this or hope by dems the end result, and Biden runs unopposed due to default, I don't really think that the dems have really thought this far ahead in their strategy and have anticipated the backlash from the public over it.
You know the old "be careful for what you wish for" thing..
I hope I'm not right..

How nice! You know Hitler imprisoned his opposition. History never repeats itself right?? We're real close to socialism.. change my mind This isn't Hitler imprisoning his opposition. This is Hitler being convicted of crimes after his first term but before he decided to start marching to the west on the road to WW2.
And oh what a better world it would have been if the German people had been brave enough to do the same.
Not offended by the conviction. But I am offended by the prosecution. Only because both teams have not been consistently held to the same standard. Prosecute them all or don’t prosecute any of them. Either is fine. The inconsistency is the problem. Unequal “justice” isn’t justice at all.

The elements of the other crimes have to be spelled out in the jury instructions and the jury has to state what crime they all unanimously think he committed. Why do you waste your time? Serious question I believe in the exchange and debate of ideas.

Trump is axed at convention...goes under house arrest, a sane youngish moderate (never trumper) Republican becomes the candidate, Biden loses, the senate flips to Dem and the house stays Dem and America is back on track. ..magaa kicked to the curb as they should be...win win for all.

He shouldn’t be disqualified off the Florida ballot. That’s basically what the Colorado case was about. The States cannot define who goes on the Federal ballot. But yes, Trump is now disqualified from Florida political offices.

That’s the instructions they gave Trump. Those instructions are likely wrong Constitutionally as to that specific aspect. .

To explain further, it appears the judge made up the jury instructions in question per the State’s request and over Trump’s objection. He didn’t use the standard jury instructions for the charge, which are silent as to whether the jury has to be unanimous on finding what the further crime is.

I’d love that, except for the Senate (I think you mean House) flipping.

Nothing is stopping Trump from running for President even if incarcerated. Back in the early 1900’s a socialist was imprisoned and received 1 million votes. If he won he could have pardoned himself.
