So we bought a new house. Had it inspected. Driveway looks a little weird but we have problems with calcification in the area so the bricks are a little whitened in places. Want to expand the driveway by some 6 feet which we can do in the HOA, just have to kiss their ring and give them all their pieces of paper. No problem the HOA said and I got the team that I had do my old house, to come and quote. They come and say,"did you know this driveway was replaced under warrantee due to a lawsuit". They explained the calcification to me and well nothing to do I owned the house. They do the quote.
Enter the owner of the company. He calls me yesterday and says I cant get the bricks until end of the month. NO I told him, you said we would be done by June 10, he say not my fault sorry.
So we go back and forth, long distance from Colombia, and we find a brick that is almost the same color as the ones we have. We will take out the brick from the back patio, and install it in the front to widen the driveway. We will use the new brick in the back, where it is so close to the old color you will never see it and it is not visible from the road. $800 upcharge for the new brick.
Owner just calls me back. Tells me that when they replaced the driveway the first time they mixed in a different color and the mixed colors will not match the bracks from the back exactly. He says, he can mix and match for another $1k. That would put us 20% over the original agreement.
I say no can do. Put the bricks in as we agreed. He said then you have to sign a waiver that you will accept it. I told him, in the last house the driveway extension did not match so original driveway so we are used to it. Second, the fault is the HOA and the original owner.
The money is not the issue, well no thats not true either. I think the guy is trying to improve his deal. He sold the company to someone else, they are horribly run and disorganized, and I think his guy underbid the original deal.
Also have not told my wife about this as she hates this guy and would be waiting for the Model 12 if he should happen to show up.
What do you guys think, live with it, spend the extra dough, or just let my wife have at him.
