On that single point in your last sentence, I agree 100%. And I hope you agree with me, that the money flow in Washington is entrenched, and not likely to change in the near future. It starts with rampant corruption in Washington. That will not change in any of our lifetimes. I hate war, I hate communists, jihadists, and any otherwise guilty countries that harbor and manufacture folks that should be shot and killed. Bad guys. None of us can change any of it. I spent most of my formative years in Boca Grande, FL. Got to know the Bushs' pretty well. Got to know Porter Goss as well. Over a lot of great food and occasional scotch, I learned how the world works. How it worked for the last 50 years. Personally, I'm grateful to be alive, although my life expentancy is like 12 months, or less, given an array of metrics. David I ain’t rich just maybe middle to upper middle class but you have a place to stay if you want to come “home “ and get whatever treatment you may need. You are too young to meet your maker, Your wife would tolerate me for about five minutes, lol. I'm so grateful to have you as a close friend. After all the conversations we've had, I promise you I've backed off a bit, on the booze. Most people, if not all, couldn't suffer my daily routine. I've built up a tolerance, not a good tolerance, but a tolerance. This is my life. I love this place. I feel like I've made a difference here. I'm not happy airing my dirty laundry on a public forum, but I trust most everyone here. I'm a hero here. I have no interest in serving 60 days in Polk County for a probation violation. A lot of good will come from my work here. I'm sure of that. I should shut up.

Did you miss the Iraq wars (particularly the 2nd) and Afghanistan? Not at all. I asked a question, and expect an answer. I will not argue with you at all, but I consider Iraq a one off to remove a dictator, and to protect and defend Kuwait, in my opinion. Afghanistan much the same. My point was commenting on "war", a legitimate "war" and not a glorified police action. Btw, all in the interest of defense contractors, again, in my opinion. You are welcome to scold me. Haven't had a good ass-chewing from you in a while. Tight lines......tarpon season Thanks, but I'd prefer to just ask leading questions and let you fill in the rest.
In any event, we'll be down there from June 1-10, staying near the lighthouse, and I'll be driving a godzilla-hued Morgan with a full tower. You're more than welcome to join us, and maybe you could even show me how to snag a tarpon with a circle hook.

Am I repeating myself, or just stupid.
On a hard falling tide, bait drifts with the current. No slower, no faster.
I will do my best to be there.

I told you about the tower. It will get you confused. Stay based down low. Watch the rip, watch where they bite. Normally on the hard tides, inside ledge .
Out on the pan they bite, but fish with no lead on the pan.

I'm innocent! I have fished a breakaway jig exactly one drift in my life, and am well aware how/when to drift the pass with live bait. The tower is for the beach in the morning -- just like the last 30 years that boat floated off Gasparilla Island but has yet to this season.
I can arrange for Lee county license plates if it helps. I wouldn't want anyone to get hurt, lol.

You know I'm just messing with you......nothing gets me going like a squirrel fish on the inside ledge or crabs fly-lined on the pan, on hard spring tides.......really miss those days......this time of year.

I wouldn't want anyone to get hurt, lol. A 24' Morgan with a keel. Music to my ears. Long story, I'll try to condense it. Back in the 90's the jigs came out. Some of my closest friends won piles, and I mean piles, of money with them. They knew they were cheating, and these were great fishermen, who didn't need to cheat. But it was pretty damn easy to them, guys that could handle a rod, fishing from a 20' Lake-n-Bay, or similar. They would smoke us on slack water. And we all know tarpon don't "bite" on slack water. Of course I fished with the Joiners, live bait only. Hard tide, we won. Slack tide, they killed us. It was never personal between us, at the time, we didn't really understand what was happening. Then the circus showed up. Pretty much ruined fishing on the weekends. All out-towners. Then it got personal. You know the story. I did what I had to do, along with some others. What was that? Like 2012-13? I really, really miss home this time of year. I know Phil loved the beach, as you do. Much more civilized, at least it used to be. I got to deck a few times for the legend, Capt. Buswell, on the Lil Tiger. Cracker casts from the tower with a giant cork and live pinfish. I'm pretty sure we fished Newells with lighter Dacron. Mono leaders. That's 35-40 yeats ago. On my regular gig, I got screamed at enough by Charlie Downing, but Bobby Buswell would light you up in a second and put the fear of God in you, if I messed up, or if a customer messed up. So maybe that explains why I'm such a hardass about fishing. I wouldn't trade any of those experiences for all the tea in China. Thanks for reading. .

I presume you know that Bobby passed last month, a few weeks after Phil.
Fished along side him a few times, but didn't know him well. I was impressed as hell with his cracker casting ability. Phil always said he was a good man. RIP.
