Alot of call centers are in Colombia. I used to interact with the kids that worked at them. Its considered a good job, and they really try hard. Most of them spoke good English. I can deal with the Indian ones, I used to work in a Hindu company and am used to that accent. What kills me are the ones that are in some kinda of Chinese country. I also hate it when they ask how my day is.

Many US based call centers do not have the friendliest of employees.
I would rather have someone competent with an accent than someone rude and wanting to get off the phone.

With the Hindoos, I really hate the endless syrupy yes sir, no sir, glad to help sir, how are you today, sir....sir...sir...sir....aaaargh....and I hate the accents. You gonna talk to me, speaka da anglaish.

I dunno I worked side by side with them for 14 years, and saw when they had alot of opportunities to take advantage and they never did. Lieing in their caste is shameful. Not honoring your word in a business deal is shameful. But there are all types I am sure. YMMV

It’s absolutely frustrating to attempt to resolve an issue with someone that you can hardly understand. I tell them flat out that I can’t understand anything they are saying. Sometimes they transfer me to a different person that happens to be in America.

I'm fighting with XFinity over just that right now. When I signed up for YouTube TV, I canceled my Infinty TV subscription via an Indian help female. Sorting thru that gobbling accent nearly drove me bonkers and we went round and round over details with me struggling to understand her. I had been paying ~$135/month for TV and internet. She was absolutely determined that I was going to retain some portion of the service and kept circling around thru details. 1st it was going to be $101/mo., then something else, then again something else....I dug in my heels and finally got unpleasant with her - hard voice, no nastiness or cussing. Finally came to an agreement of $71/mo. For some reason, Verizon, TMobile and others can't seem to provide service to my address - an apartment complex right in town - and the cheaper sources aren't available here. A few days ago, my 1st online bill came in on email - $117 and change. Today, I gird the loins and dive back into the fray. Wish I had more options....I really dislike XFinity.

Trying to help make a payment online to help granddaughter (account compromised). I’m a co-signer. They keep asking for my SS#. I keep objecting. Get this. They will not accept a payment online with my debit card unless the bill is overdue. They will accept a credit card if I go online and provide all my personal banking and SS#. I asked for a mailing address. Nope. I asked for a manager and they grumpily transferred me. The manager said of course you can mail a payment in here’s the address. I asked why the previous attendant couldn’t provide that information. She said she didn’t know but was going to find out.

Oh yeah, on an earlier call I was greeted with “good morning, good afternoon, good evening”…I said the same right back to the person which must have ticked her off. Shame on me…

When I worked for Time they moved a lot of our customer service and help desk to India. I couldn't understand the females for the most part and always had to ask to speak to a male to get things resolved.
I've always had good interactions with folks from India. Matter of fact I've had good interactions from just about everyone that lives outside of the US. Some Americans act entitled and there are some real shitty ones living amongst us.

My wife’s friend in the Philippines has a son who works at a call center for a US company. Over there it’s considered a great job. Of course they don’t get paid wages like they would in the US but they still get US holidays off paid. Since it’s a 12 hours difference, they work all night and they have a counter culture of all of the people that work in those centers that hang out in bars basically in the morning hours in the Philippines after work.

I worked 1 job in Dublin GA. A Paper recycling plant. There was over 2,000 people working. It would take at least an hour to get out of the parking lot. The local girls would bring out washtubs of iced down beer to sell. A lot of guys would drink beer and wait for the parking lot to clear out. I didn't fight that traffic only 1 way in and 1 way out.
