Did venison Swedish meatballs last night. Turned out great. We eat a lot of venison at my house. Finally getting down to our last 15lbs. We consumed 15 deer this year, and i only had 1 bad gout incident! Not a bad year at the feeding trough at all. We, too, use it as any replacement for beef. I was running out of ideas, so the Swedes were a good change.
So, for tonight I'm doing a picnic shoulder in the oven. Just seasoned it and popped it in. Might have smoked it but I'm heading to work tomorrow so I don't have time to fool around today.... Low n slow. Needless to say it will be great. Pork is such a forgiving meat that it is hard to mess it up.

We give plenty venison away to the folks who like it, but can't stomach killing it. Ferris, I would use a pellet grill for a pork cook like this. It's a set it and forget it, but I was recruited this morning to help my wife's girl friend, and I knew I was going to be in and out all day... hmmm, did that sound right?

You must have more than a few deep freezers. I have more shit than I should have. A couple freezers and 4 refrigerators. We give plenty venison away to the folks who like it, but can't stomach killing it. Ferris, I would use a pellet grill for a pork cook like this. It's a set it and forget it, but I was recruited this morning to help my wife's girl friend, and I knew I was going to be in and out all day... hmmm, did that sound right? Not really...........

Grilled leg quarters basting them often with butter/lemon juice/black pepper. Cooked slow like pops use to when I was growing up. We had steamed broccoli and a bit of cauliflower to go with it.

Easy dinner today
1/2# cheeseburgers
Sliced huge vidalia (sp) onions Garden picked tomatoes
Mashed garlic potatoes
Ate two and felt like I was going to explode

Wife still in the Philippines. I bought some steakumms last BOGO at Publix and made a Philly cheesesteak with onions sweet peppers and mushrooms. Some air fryer steak fries. Not too bad. Attachments:
