Been applying for a local WMA that keeps popping up for spring turkey redraw. I have a little prior knowledge and a couple spots out there, but would definitely need some time scouting if hunting there is any prospect. Based on your past experience, what is the frequency of pulling a reissued permit? As season gets closer, is it worth spending time scouting spots based on the possibility of getting a reissue or is my time better spent finding birds at the romp n stomp?

Chances are pretty slim of drawing any reissue much less a particular reissue permit, but it does happen. I would keep trying but not put a lot of time in scouting until I had drawn the permit. Spend time on the R&S so you have more options when the masses show up.

We usually get 1 or 2 redraws per 5-7 of us for the season. But its not always the preferred WMAs. Scout the romp and stomp. In some ways its even better to spend all you time at one place and learning more about it every time you go out.

i only scout a place if i have a permit, i have a general idea where turkeys are on over 10 wmas, most of these spots i found from hunting snipe or deer.

The 2023 hunting season I applied 24 times for reissue permits and was awarded 1 permit. I would say I averaged 3 permits choices applied for each time. This included archery, Gen gun, hog
